Getting Good Deals On Children’s Clothing

by Owen Jones

Every parent is aware how soon children grow up and how frequently you have to replace their clothing. This is an awfully expensive business. Children are a lot more fashion conscious now and much more aware than ever before about what they wear. They ask for designer this and designer that and that just adds to the cost of the items of children’s clothing that you have to buy.

Children also have to have clothing for school. The question of a school uniform is contentious, but wearing a school uniform does take some of the anxiety out of buying children’s clothing. School uniforms are not really designer wear (although every school has a unique uniform) and they are normally hard-wearing. A large family can pass clothing down, but sometimes the younger children resent this. Fortunately, there are some other ways of reducing the cost of buying children’s clothing.

One way of saving money on children’s clothing is to take advantage of ‘two for the price of one’ or ‘buy two get one free’ offers. That is fairly obvious advice, but the twist is to ask if you can stagger the sizes, so that you have two or three successive sizes, which will allow your child to grow into the larger sizes and give you a breathing space.

Endeavor to buy children’s clothing out of season, so that you buy swim wear in the winter and jumpers and coats in the summer. You will find huge discounts on out-of-season children’s clothing. Discounts of 75% are not uncommon. if you are buying in advance like this, it is important to remember to buy a size or two larger to take into account your child’s growth before it requires them.

Sweaters and jumpers offer great opportunities for saving money. Purchase a handful of jumpers at a time when they are on discount, perhaps in the summer. Again, buy a variety of sizes. One warning here, do not buy seasonal or high-fashion colours that may seem out of place in a year’s time. Choose quite traditional, neutral colours.

When you have a clean-out of clothing that is too small or never worn, take them to the local charity shop. While you are there, see if you can pick up a handful of bargains. Charity shops are brilliant places from which to acquire children’s clothing at hugely discounted prices. The clothing is clean and blemish free, they are fantastic bargains.

Jumble Sales and bazaars are another good source of children’s clothing. Jumble sales and bazaars are often put on by well-intentioned institutions such as The Women’s Institute, The Guides, The Scouts, local churches and local schools. The clothing on sale is donated by parents from the institution and it is sold to raise funds for that institution. It is typically of high quality and some of it is even new, bought purposely to donate to the charity for fund-raising purposes.

A good way of customizing children’s clothing is embroidery. You could embroider or sew on a picture of the child’s favourite animal or pet. The child’s name, the name of a favourite band or a slogan is also very popular.

Tips For A Great Santa Costume For Your Christmas Party

by David Lawson

Many families have a traditional celebration each year at Christmas time. The gathering will include a visit from old Saint Nick himself. The sale of Christmas costumes has increased substantially over the years, with Santa being one of the primary costumes. If you have waited to the last moment to get your santa costume, it may be difficult to find one. However if you take the time to look in the right places, you are sure to find one in time for Christmas.

If you are interested in a high quality suit but do not wish to pay for it, then the rental store is the very first place you should visit. The rental store will have high quality costumes for rent, including Santa Claus. It will save you money in the long run because you will not have to have the suit professionally cleaned, nor will you have to affect repairs if it should be damaged.

Another place which many people fail to look is at a local nonprofit organization. Most charitable organizations have a Santa suit which is used for yearly fund-raising. Since the fundraising takes place prior to Christmas day, it is usually unused at that time. Many charitable organizations will allow you to borrow or rent the costume. It would be ideal for you to pay them even if they offer it for free.

Going online is yet another resource which can be used to procure a new or used Santa Claus suit. Many of the online auction sites will have specials, which will allow you to buy a suit at a reduced cost. In some instances you can get express shipping so that it will arrive in plenty of time for your event.

When you are in the market for a Santa suit, you must remember that you are going to get what you pay for in most instances. If you are looking for something which will be sturdy and can be used for years to come, you should be ready to pay extra for a quality suit.

A typical santa costume will be comprised of the hat, jacket, pants, boots and belt. Of course it would not be a Santa suit if it did not come with his trademark beard. Some suits will come with gloves or mittens, but these will be the higher end products. This will be one case where you get what you pay for, so if you want a really great Santa outfit, be prepared to spend a little more to get that quality.

Dark opaque color tint contacts are available in a variety of shades so that the eye color of the user is completely changed while leaving the inner circle clear so that the vision is not impaired. Visibility tint lenses can be fitted with a blue or other similar colored hue, so that you can easily locate the lens in the case that it is dropped onto a light colored surface, these lenses are not designed to change the color of the eye.

Lenses with enhancement tints (such as blues, greens or grays) will heighten the natural eye color of the wearer. A lens of this type will give a darker hint, so they are better suited to people with light colored eyes.

Buying Jewelery Online: Are You Crazy?

by Jerry McGahan

Summary: Online auction sites can be a very safe place to purchase jewelery. They are safe provided buyers follow some common sense precautions to ensure that they do not get ripped off.

Traditionally jewelery has always been bought from a local store. But today more and more people are using the Internet to purchase jewelery. Most online auction sites have a dedicated section dealing with jewelery. The demand for such sites has been fueled by the demand for cheap jewelery and the high end imitation. Auction giants like eBay have changed the way we buy jewelery but many eBay alternatives are challenging their big brother.

The biggest online auction buyers of jewelery world wide are women because it gives them a much bigger selection of designs than they could find if they only bought from their own culture. For bargain hunters there can be no better place than an online auction. You might be wondering if it is safe to buy jewelry this way. It is if you keep a few rules in mind when shopping online. Here are a few tips to help you from getting duped:

Do some research and read about the auction sites that interest you. Determine what type of jewelry they offer. Some online auction site only deal with high end imitations. Therefore, if you are looking to buy real jewelery than these types of sites might not be for you.

You should always read the reviews and testimonials about the sellers as this will give you a fair idea as to the seller’s reputation.

While its good to be a bargain hunter, watch out for unbelievable too good to be true sales. Price is often an accurate reflection of quality. In most of these cases will be fakes or not the piece that gets shipped to you.

Check out for the standard specifications for the jewelery before you plan to purchase. Precious stones like diamond will have Carat mentioned which roughly means 200 milligrams. Pure gold is of 24 Carats and the purity will be mentioned in the specifications.

In case you need any additional information regarding the bidding process contact the administrator of the online auction site. Do not bid for the jewelery until you have all the information that you require. If you suspect fraud, be sure to contact the site administrator so that the situation can be further investigated.

Online auction site work hard to achieve high standards so they can maintain a reputable selling and buying environment. Its a good idea to check if your online auction site meets regulatory requirements. If you are looking to purchase good quality imitation jewelery or used jewelery then an auction site that does not meet the regulatory standards might be a better choice.

Used jewelery will usually have a worn look to it so look closely at all the photos the seller provides you. In addition, read the seller’s description carefully. Most sellers are honest and they want you to be satisfied with your purchase. In addition, they do not want to risk being barred from the auction site. This will prevent you from buying used jewelery when you want to purchase bran new jewelery.

Shopping at an online auction for jewelery can involve a large amount of money. Check to see if your auction site uses a secure payment method. Most auction sites use a third party payment system such as PayPal or a major well know credit card company for handling transactions. Never use Western Union to wire money to the seller or send cash through the mail.

It is unlikely you will be duped if you keep the above pointers in mind while you make purchases right from the comfort of your own home.

Star Trek Costumes – Choose The Ideal Costume

by David Lawson

Star Trek costumes are appealing for fans of every age. There is such a variety of shows and movies now, you have lots of options to choose from. No matter if you are a serious Trekkie getting ready for a convention or a more casual fan planning on a party, there are possibilities for everyone.

It is probably best to first decide which Star Trek you want to represent. Are you a fan of the original series? Or do you prefer The Next Generation, Deep Space 9, Voyager or Enterprise? Or would you prefer a character and outfit from one of the movies instead?

Which is your favorite is going to impact your choice of costume. It effects more than just the uniform style. For example, in the original series, Klingons were the bad guys. Later, they started working with the Federation. Also, their make-up changed greatly as well.

Your choice is also going to depend on your budget. If you are willing to spend the money, you can purchase your entire costume. If you do, you can be whatever character you can find the clothes, accessories and make-up for. If you do not want to purchase your entire costume, it is probably best to stick with being a Starfleet character and a more human looking character than a Klingon.

Putting together a Starfleet uniform is not going to be too difficult. Make sure you know the correct design and color for the particular time period you want. There are loads of places to find pictures of them online. The original series has the simplest uniforms. There are also patterns available for making your own uniforms if you have the time, desire and ability. You will probably get the most realistic look doing it yourself.

As far as make-up goes, if you do not want to be human, you can easily make or buy prosthetic ears to be a Vulcan or put on a small amount of make-up to be Bajoran, for example. Just remember, the more elaborate the make-up needed, the more expensive it will be and the harder to get it right.

To help with an authentic look, the place to spend a little extra money is in accessories. For example, you can buy the right communicator, weapons or badges to fit your particular character. Even if your uniform is not exact, the right phaser is going to more than make up for that.

You can also add props to fit with your favorite episode or movie as well. If you are a fan of the original series, you could always create your own tribbles, for example. It is the little touches that will make the costume stand out.

If you are a science fiction fan, Star Trek costumes are a great choice the next time you are looking for an idea. Give yourself some time to come up with some good prop ideas and to find or make the right outfit. Add an accessory or two and you can be Starfleet material before you know it.
